This privacy policy explains what information CostNYC (https://costnyc.com/, "we", "us") collects when you visit our website, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
Calculator inputs
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The values you enter are not sent to our servers. They are kept only in the page address (after the "#" symbol) so you can bookmark or share your estimate.
Information we collect
- Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your name, email address and message.
- Information collected automatically: like most websites, our hosting provider records standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, referring website and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files or identifiers stored on your device by us or by third parties, described below.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads on this website. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to serve and measure ads on our site.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you opt out of personalized advertising, you may still see ads, but they will be based on general factors such as the page you are reading rather than your interests.
Your cookie choices
When you first visit, a cookie banner explains how ads work on this site and lets you choose. You can change your choice at any time with the Your privacy choices link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again on every page.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland: we do not load any advertising code or set advertising cookies until you select "Accept all". If you select "Reject non-essential", no ads are shown and no advertising cookies are used. Our legal bases are your consent (for advertising cookies) and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website (for server logs).
- Visitors elsewhere: ads are shown by default. Select "Limit ad personalization" to switch to non-personalized ads, which are based on the page you are reading rather than your browsing history.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of personalized advertising.
Your US state privacy rights
Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request access to or deletion of it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies by our ad partners may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under some state laws. You can opt out by selecting "Limit ad personalization" in our cookie banner (open it any time with the "Your privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page), by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, through Google's Ads Settings, or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
